Reds Stomp Their Legless Competition, 8-1

The author was unable to find an appropriate Kyle Lohse picture to go along with this post, so you readers get Frank Robinson with a newspaper and a half-fro. The relevance of Robinson, of course, is with his 23rd home run of the season Junior tied Mr. Robinson for sixth on the all-time home run list with 586. Not too bad, even if it was off Micah Owings.

But the better performance this evening was turned in by the owner of the small goatee, Kyle Lohse. He dealt the Snakes just one hit over eight and, even if he returned to last month's Lohse for the first three batters of the ninth, Dick Pole reminded him not to be so terrible and he finished things up with a four-hit complete game. The offense did give him plenty to work with; Dunn hit a two run bomb in the first, Phillips had what Grande referred to as a "whammo" in the third, and then of course Griffey's two-run shot in the fifth. Not too bad at all. Beat those godless serpents again tomorrow. Reds! Reds! Reds!
